26 miles off the Southern California coast,
Emerald Bay on Catalina Island, offers an unparalleled location
for long-term camping. An ocean voyage from San Pedro, aboard a
pirate ship, separates you from adventure. Summer Camp is the enticement
of Scouting that appeals to boys, and a week at Camp Emerald Bay
is the preeminent experience. Scout Troops come from all over the
Western United States to spend a week by her crystal clear waters.
The program, facilities, equipment and staff at Emerald Bay create
an environment for Scouts to productively gain new skills, strengthen
values and build character. The program has been refined for over
75 years balancing merit badge and rank advancement with seizing
all that the unique aquatic location has to share. The facilities
have, over the last several years, been brought into the 21st century
offering a state-of-the-art marine science center, rifle range,
handicraft lodge as well as the premiere waterfront. Ample and
well-maintained equipment helps Scouts meet their goals reliably.
And the staff is always dedicated to making your one-week of camp
last for a lifetime.
This is an unforgettable experience for your Scouts and Scouters.
So, if you are looking for leadership development, self-confidence
building, advancement opportunities, or just plain fun, Emerald
Bay is the camp for you.
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE REGISTERED MEMBERS OF THE BOY SCOUTS
OF AMERICA. RULES FOR ACCEPTANCE AND PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAMS
ARE THE SAME FOR EVERYONE WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, COLOR, NATIONAL
ORIGIN, AGE, SEX OR HANDICAP.
PROGRAMS
We are happy for the
limitless opportunities available at Emerald Bay. Programs are
offered for the first year
camper to the skilled veteran in the areas of Aquatics, Field Sports,
Handicraft, Nature and Scoutcraft. Scouts aged 14 and older looking
for adventures need look no further than Rugged "E".
Rugged "E" is a physically and mentally challenging program
including kayaking, hiking, aquatic COPE events, overnight trips,
day and night snorkeling trips and mountain biking. (The age requirement
of 14 is strictly enforced for the Rugged "E" program.)
Your summer camp experience at Camp Emerald Bay is geared to reach
your boys in several ways:
FOR EACH SCOUT: There are chances for advancement, to try new
things and receive recognition for accomplishments i.e. Buffalo
Run, Sea Lion Swim and BSA Naturalist.
FOR BUDDIES: We've made the buddy system more than just a safety
precaution, it's a way to learn and work together with one or two
friends in Fishing, Swimming, Boating, Snorkeling, etc.
FOR PATROLS: There are activities that let patrols work together
to gain confidence and leadership skills that will make them a
stronger team back home i.e. Emerald Patrol.
FOR TROOPS: There are events to bring Scouts, their buddies, and
patrols together as one unit: - campfires, cookouts, overnight
war canoe trip, hikes, games, conservation or service project.
TOTAL CAMP EXPERIENCE: There's the chance to work with other troops
and to make a contribution to the total camp experience, i.e.,
camp wide programs, Scout's Own, campfires and enjoying meals together.
